Job overview
The postholder will be part of a new team which we are developing to re-invigorate and develop our acute medical and same day emergency care services. These posts will work across acute internal medicine, with a focus on the acute medical unit, same day emergency care and links with our emergency medicine department. The postholder will be key to developing and leading changes to our services which we are developing to better support patient flow and education and training opportunities. Applications are invited for motivated individuals with strong leadership, education and change skills to join our team at Hillingdon Hospitals. Developing pathways and services that can be brought to our new hospital rebuild, planned to complete in 2025/6. The post is advertised as 10 PAs. There is a possibility of additional PAs in discussion with the Divisional Director for Unplanned Care. Further subspecialty interests including specialty clinics and service development will also be welcomed and accommodated within the job plan, in addition to the Medical Specialties mentioned above. The successful applicant will be a committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, quality improvement, teaching and training. There is an opportunity for the ideal candidate to be supported in completing their CESR application during this post. This can be discussed further during the interview.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10 PA post, 8.5 PA DCC, 1.5 SPA. SPA may include clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD and mandatory training. Personal CPD must be included as part of annual appraisal which is mandatory and required for the revalidation process. Post holders will participate in the medical on call (acute take) rota (approximately 1:18). The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, will provide an effective and comprehensive service in developing the medical SDEC/ ambulatory care services on the ambulatory medical unit, working closely with ED and surgical colleagues. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department.

- Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
- MRCP or equivalent
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a. Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b. Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) or application submitted and outcome expected within 6 months of the interview c. European Community Rights
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary group
- Recent clinical experience in AIM
- Demonstrable commitment to teach, train and assess teaching of undergraduates, post graduates and nursing staff
- Proven teaching experience
- Experience of clinical audit and enable delivery of good practice
- Evidence of quality and service improvement
- Well-developed effective leadership and management skills – NHS Leadership Framework.
