Job overview

The trust Breast registrar will primarily work for the Breast unit with General Surgery  on call. The job covers a wide variety of oncoplastic breast surgery, one-stop clinic exposure, planning and plastic surgery clinical exposure. The Breast team at Hillingdon hospital is based in the new purpose-built Breast unit at Mount Vernon Hospital.  The new purpose built Breast unit has tomosynthesis and other up to date diagnostic facilities.  The Breast team provides comprehensive service including oncoplastic surgery, medical and clinical oncology with weekly multi-disciplinary meetings.  It is expected that the candidate will be closely involved in the Breast service providing support in both elective breast surgery and one-stop outpatient commitments. In Breast surgery the candidate will have exposure to reconstructive surgery including implant based reconstruction, local perforator flaps and autologous reconstruction at Royal Free hospital with Plastic surgeons. This is an excellent senior post with lots of scope to improve on breast surgery and academic opportunities. Support will be provided for anyone interested in CSER application.  The Fellow would be encouraged to undertake audits and participate in ongoing national breast trials.  Further information can be sought directly from Mr Chakravorty, Breast Lead.

Main duties of the job

The Hillingdon Hospital wishes to appoint a Senior Breast Clinical Fellow to join the General Surgery department for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role will focus primarily on breast. The post is essential to meet the ongoing Breast and General Surgical expansion. The department has 8 substantive consultants, 3 Breast consultants and two locum consultants with middle grade and juniors to support them.

 

The senior Breast fellow will primarily work for the Breast unit with no on call. The job covers a wide variety of oncoplastic breast surgery, one-stop clinic exposure, planning and plastic surgery clinical exposure. The Breast team at Hillingdon hospital is based in the new purpose-built Breast unit at Mount Vernon Hospital.
