Job overview

Work within a team of two nephrology consultants, one specialty training nephrology registrar and a dedicated renal secretary to provide general nephrology care to the population of Hillingdon Hospital. The role will focus on but not be limited to advanced kidney care management and preparation for dialysis and transplantation. Educational and peer 
support will be through the local renal consultants but also the broader advanced kidney care team at the Hammersmith Hospital with regular meetings and training.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in line with local and national targets.
The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and support and deputise for their line manager in the management of their clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex 
situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings. 
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Working toward a relevant degree (level 6)
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent teaching experience
  • Post registration experience in a relevant area with experience of change management.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Significant post registration experience in specialty area and experience in either junior specialty role or team leader/ward management role
  • Experience with managing patients relevant to specialist area
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
Desirable criteria
  • Has attained a relevant Degree (level 6)
  • Leadership qualification
