Job overview

This is a newly created 6 PA Consultant Neurologist post based at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (THH).

This new post has been created by the Trust to enable the Neurology service to meet the expanding demand for Neurology outpatient and inpatient input, as well as evolving sustainable pathways and developing existing links and collaboration with other organisations within the North west London Integrated care systems. The successful applicant will join six substantive Consultant Neurologists at THH in providing a complete local Neurology service to outpatients and acute medical inpatients. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a key role in realising our ambition to build a high-quality clinical service by bringing new skills to our Neurology department. The successful applicant will be a committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, service improvement, teaching, training and other qualities as identified in the person specification.

It is a requirement of the post that every doctor takes part in annual job planning and annual appraisal as part of the revalidation of cycle.

Working for our organisation

The Hillingdon Hospital is a District General Hospital, located in West London, serving a population of approximately 240,000 people in the Borough of Hillingdon. It has 600 beds and it incorporates General Medicine, Care of the Elderly, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Mental Health and has a very busy Accident and Emergency Department. 

Hillingdon is situated within the M25, only 18 miles away from central London and within easy reach of the main motorway networks and major airports. 

The Hillingdon Hospital has merged its acute services with Mount Vernon Hospital with inpatient acute medical services located at the Hillingdon site while maintaining medical outpatient clinics, day care and elderly rehabilitation at Mount Vernon.

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology or within six months of the expected date of Certificate of Completion or submitted a CESR application and result is expected within 6 months from interview date.
  • Recent clinical experience in Neurology
  • Demonstrable commitment to teach, train and assess teaching of undergraduates, post graduates and nursing staff
  • Commitment to research, publication and presentations.
