Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an expanding consultant body providing care to women in Hillingdon. This is a 9.25PA locum consultant post in obstetrics for 12 months starting September 2025.
The ideal candidate will have a high standard of general obstetric and gynaecology skills. The timetable allows the post holder to maintain a breadth of skills across the specialty, with the intention of development of the job plan in line with special interests.
The post holder will participate in the consultant on-call rota for both obstetrics and gynaecology which includes 1 in 10 weekends on call with prospective cover (approximately 5 weekends per year). This is a non-resident on-call rota.
The obstetrics and gynaecology consultant body at Hillingdon hospital are known for working cohesively and supporting each other, both in clinical settings and with regards to professional development.
The department maintains a reputation for being extremely sociable and a pleasant place to work. We also work hard at maintaining our popularity with junior doctors, resulting in a very high standard of middle grade staff.

Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Planned Care at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and job plan negotiated annually. It is a 8.25PA post direct clinical care (DCC), 1 PA supporting professional activities (SPA)
- The post-holder will work closely with their colleagues, be responsible for providing a high-quality Obstetrics & Gynaecology service to the residents of Hillingdon, and for development of services appropriate to these ends.
- The post-holder will take part in the in-patient and out-patient work in Obstetrics at Hillingdon Hospital, Mount Vernon or other sites as required, including an advisory service for colleagues.
- The Labour Ward sessions have been established in line with RCOG guidelines. It is intended that the consultant will spend the sessions on the delivery suite delivering care or teaching medical and midwifery staff.
- The successful candidate will participate in the Obstetrics on-call rota at Hillingdon Hospital. This on-call commitment may change with time and further appointments
