Job overview

Are you a skilled and experienced Cancer Pharmacist ready to lead change and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team? Do you have the ambition to drive service improvements and develop a high-quality clinical pharmacy service within Haematology?

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a highly skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic specialist pharmacist to join our Cancer Pharmacy Team. This role offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact by combining advanced clinical haematology expertise with leadership and service development.

We are looking for someone with strong clinical knowledge, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for excellence. In this challenging but rewarding role, you will work closely with the Principal Pharmacist Transformation, Cancer Services & Clinical Trials, to deliver a comprehensive and high-quality clinical pharmacy service.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering a specialised, high quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to adult haematology and paediatric oncology patients.
  • Actively contributing to the multidisciplinary team by providing ward-based pharmacy services and key input during clinician ward rounds, clinics, and meetings.
  • Serving as a clinical role model, offering highly complex expert advice on the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of haematology and oncology medicines, in line with Trust and National Guidelines.
  • Leading and supporting changes in work practices within Cancer Services, fostering good working relationships and implementing innovative solutions to enhance safety and quality in the service.
  • Building strong working relationships with the Trust Research and Development team and contributing to research governance within the Trust.

Working for our organisation

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services, including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics, and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit, and outpatient clinics.

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is paramount and we are making urgent improvements to address this – particularly in infection prevention and control. We are making progress by working in partnership with local GPs, charities, community services, academic partners, our local authority, neighbouring hospitals, and the wider North West London Integrated care system, and ensuring that we listen and work in partnership with our local population. We are focused on ensuring that our hospitals provide high quality, safe, and compassionate care, while we drive forward with the building of the new Hillingdon Hospital.

We have over 3,500 members of staff that are proud to care for nearly half a million people, with a vision to be an outstanding provider of healthcare through leading health and academic partnerships, transforming services, to provide the best care where needed.
