Job overview

The post holder will be an experienced clinical pharmacist with highly developed interpersonal skills. They will work under the guidance of the Principal Pharmacist for Medicines Governance and Antimicrobial Stewardship to ensure systems are in place for the safe management of medicines across the Trust.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for supporting the development, delivery, and monitoring of both long- and short-term strategies for antimicrobial stewardship and medication safety. The post holder will work closely with the Principal Pharmacist for Medicines Governance and Antimicrobial Stewardship, the Medication Safety Officer (job share), the senior pharmacy technician for medication safety, relevant medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff, to achieve these aims.

The post holder will be required to work effectively with the Trust Medication Safety Committee, and wider multidisciplinary clinical staff (medical, nursing, and pharmacy).

The role will lead on audit and assurance programmes related to the safe/and secure handling of medicines, and will provide expert advice to ensure standards are met.

  • MPharm or equivalent
  • GPhC registered
  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent qualification/experience)
  • Knowledge and previous experience in medication safety initiatives
  • Experience in medicines management audit and/or research & development
  • Experience in project and change management
