Job overview

 

As a Senior Bank MRI Radiographer at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will be part of a skilled team delivering high-quality MRI services using Siemens Sola and Aera scanners. 

Main duties of the job

 

  • Maintain an efficient, effective, and high-quality MRI service daily.
  • Communicate complex information to patients, especially in stressful or challenging situations.
  • Provide specialist advice on available services and relevant contact information.

 

  • Maintain high standards of MRI scanning techniques and image quality.
  • Independently perform advanced MRI studies.
  • Interpret scans and apply clinical judgment to optimise imaging and patient outcomes.
  • Train staff in all MRI techniques, including advanced and dynamic studies.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Enforce strict MRI safety protocols for all individuals in the MRI environment.
  • Maintain equipment care and report issues to the MRI Superintendent Radiographer.
  • Cannulate and administer IV contrast media and Buscopan.
  • Report scanner issues directly to the manufacturer when necessary.
  • Coordinate GA lists with admin staff and Consultant Anaesthetists.
  • Liaise with patients and referring teams to assess MRI safety.
  • Collaborate with the MRI Superintendent to develop and revise scanning protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues to ensure robust service delivery.
  • Cannulate adult patients in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes.
  • Report equipment faults/incidents to maintenance providers and inform lead radiographers.
  • Notify lead radiographers of low stock levels.
