Job overview
As Deputy Head of Patient Safety, you will support the Head of Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness to lead the Patient Safety team and Patient Safety processes within the Trust. Working within the Corporate directorate of the Patient Safety team, you will help save and improve lives as you lead on patient safety throughout Pennine Care NHS Trust including the development of strategy, structure and continuous improvement through a learning framework and implementation and embedment of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework.
You will be critical to driving transformation and improvements in patient safety to ensure that Pennine Care continues to deliver on its core values of Kindness, Fairness, Ingenuity and Determination.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Responsible for co-ordination of key Organisation wide PSIRF priorities
· Responsible for triangulation and analysis of a wide variety of patient safety data
· Deputise for the Head of Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness in decision making forums relevant to Patient Safety.
· Responsible for line management of the Patient Safety Investigator, Patient Safety Assurance Lead and Suicide Prevention Lead and support their development.
· Provide Patient Safety advice and support for Network level learning response leads
· Oversee the progression of the Patient Safety Incident Response Plan and Policy
· Oversee the progression of LFPSE into Ulysses and the Patient Safety Improvement Programme
· Responsibility to acknowledge and escalate any risks identified from Patient Safety oversight
· Responsibility to support the Head of Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness to ensure that there is local and organisational learning following all types of incidents, complaints and claims, actively disseminating lessons learned through the Trust.
· Responsible for co-ordination of key Organisation wide PSIRF priorities

Job Summary
Organisation wide post, the post holder will work very closely with all clinical and non-clinical staff across the organisation in order to:
· Support the Head of Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness to strategically lead the Trust’s Patient Safety department.
· Lead the Patient Safety team in planning and implementing a range of effective service developments and working in close collaboration with Network Directors, nurses and clinicians to improve patient safety.
· Work in close collaboration with the Clinical, Governance and Network Triumvirates.
· To develop and devise the patient safety and any associated policies across the organisation by co-ordinating programmes which recognises, reports, analyses, evaluates and minimises patient safety risk throughout the organisation
· Acting on own experience and knowledge, the post holder will achieve best practice and results, being guided by Trust policies and principles

- Educated to Degree level/ or equivalent experience

- Experience in a leadership or management level post or equivalent

- Professional and Specialist knowledge in Patient Safety, safety culture and PSIRF gained through clinical or senior operational management background

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
