Applications are invited for a Finance Assistant based within the Finance Department in Bolton. The successful applicant will work as a member of the Finance Department providing resilience for the Accounts Payable, Treasury and Salary Sacrifice teams,

Main duties of the job

As a Finance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organisation. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will contribute to the smooth running of our finance department.

You must be educated to at least GCSE level.

Working for our organisation

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good level of education to at least GCSE standard. Maths and English essential
  • Qualified to AAT Intermediate level (NVQ level 3) or willing to work towards Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification via apprenticeship

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Communicates effectively using verbal and written skills to ensure issues are clear and understandable
  • Can develop and maintain good working relationships both within the financial accounts section and the finance department, to ensure deadlines are met and departmental goals achieved
  • Develop good working relationships within the organisation, so that a high quality service is provided to all staff and managers as well as trust’s suppliers that have contact with the financial accounts section.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Plans and organises own workload with minimum supervision to ensure the achievement of the sections targets/goals.
  • Able to work well under pressure to meet demanding deadlines
  • Analyses financial information using a variety of analytical skills using all relevant factors.
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, required when inputting data, checking and reconciling information, making calculations and answering queries from staff, suppliers
  • Can be flexible in switching tasks as may be required within the role and wider team.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge or experience of Financial Accounting environment
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications. (Specifically Microsoft Excel).
