Senior Clinical Fellow ENT

Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3-5)

Job overview

The department of ENT is seeking to appoint  2x Senior Clinical Fellow (middle grade level doctor) to commence immediately for a period of 6 months fixed term. This post provides an excellent opportunity for the successful applicant to acquire all the professional and clinical competencies in most aspects of ENT that a busy unit can offer.

The posts offer a rich environment of clinical supported training in ENT surgical skills, out and in patient care, and surgical skills appropriate to the clinical care of our patients as well as regular weekly formal teaching sessions, monthly audit meeting and encouragement to attend other study events. There will be a defined commitment to educational sessions including teaching of medical students, and junior doctors of various grades.

Main duties of the job

Opportunities are available in the ENT directorate at the Northern Care Alliance for doctors who have completed core surgical training with minimum 1 year of experience in ENT. These posts attract 1 in 6 middle grade oncall for ENT, non-resident after 5.00pm.

This post is predominantly based at the Fairfield General Hospital but may have duties at other locations within The Northern Care Alliance  NHS Trust or its associated sites where you may reasonably be required to work for the proper performance and exercise of your duties. A job plan will be agreed upon appointment.

The Department is within the Surgical Division, and serves a population of approximately 1 million. The Trust provides a service from Fairfield General Hospital in Bury and  The Royal Oldham Hospital l with referrals received from the community teams, GPs and hospital consultant colleagues.

The multidisciplinary team provides a full range of adult and paediatric ENT services including head and neck cancer surgery, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The department has strong links with related services within the Trust including audiology and speech and language therapy.

All medical staff work across the Trust to support the concept of integration and co- ordination, and improve service quality and performance.
