Job overview
North Manchester General Hospital are looking to recruit an experienced tradesperson with a mechanical bias to our ever expanding team.

This role is to directly support the Director of Estates in ensuring that the Directorate both creates and supports a caring environment through the delivery of an effective estates service at best value and quality
Main duties of the job
The role consists of a wide and varied review of responsibilities and tasks. No two days will ever be the same as we develop the site into a modern hospital. Tasks include:
- To ensure that the properties are maintained in accordance with the service level agreements and to the appropriate quality and standards expected
- To maintain a high-quality environment for both clinical and non-clinical staff, patients, and visitors.
- Provide technical advice to other estates staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures
- To assist, plan and organise operational maintenance for the Trust under guidance.
- Execute a range of controlled operations e.g. isolations, interruptions of mechanical supplies, under guidance
- Review and develop maintenance procedures including maintenance programmes for new equipment and regulatory changes.
- Provide estates assistance across MFT sites as required for resilience and as instructed by senior staff.
- Participation in the Estates on-call rota or any other rota as required to meet the service demands.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- City and Guilds Level 3/ NVQ Level 3/ ONC in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Building Services and significant equivalent experience
- Ability to travel
- Health & Safety Awareness
Desirable criteria
- City Guilds 18th Edition
- Asbestos Awareness
- Risk Assessment Training
- Manual Handling Training
- Lift Release Training
- Competent Person in electrical/mechanical discipline
- Working within a hospital environment
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a pressurised reactive environment
- Completion of a structured training program in Electrical/Mechanical/Building Engineering discipline for a minimum of 5 years
- Practical and theoretical building structure and fabric knowledge
- Experience of Service Level Agreements
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of NHS Estates HTMs and HBNs
- Knowledge of a variety of computer based Building Management Systems i.e. CAFM
- Experience of estate related audits and control procedures
- Experience in both Operational Estates activities in a large Acute NHS Organisation
- Experience of working for an NHS Trust with outsourced services through a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Agreement
