Job overview

The post is an essential development for progression towards the reduction and maintenance of waiting times for new patients to less than 18 weeks.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a keen interest in this specialty and is expected to take their share of the full range of general Maxillofacial and Oral surgery. The applicant needs to have experience with oral surgery and dentistry, along with an interest in special care dentistry.

The post is an essential development for progression towards the reduction and maintenance of waiting times for new patients to less than 18 weeks.

The post holder is required to hold current Registration with the General Medical Council on commencement and must have a post grad Dental degree.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GDC registration as a dentist
  • BDS or equivalent Passed MFDS or MJDF / equivalent
  • Experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Good practical clinical skills
Desirable criteria
  • Distinctions, prizes, awards, scholarships, other degrees or diplomas such as MFDS or MJDF or parts there of.
  • Presentations
  • Publications

Ability

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate knowledge of basic science and the ability to apply this to clinical practice
  • General dentistry and oral surgery skills
  • Ability to make good medical notes
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of understanding and application
  • Evidence of good current general skills, knowledge and potential to develop
