Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist to join our innovative and friendly pharmacy team.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision and continued development of a specialist clinical pharmacy service to wards at North View four days per week with one day per week providing specialist input into our citywide Early Intervention Services (EIS)
North View is a brand new award winning inpatient mental health unit on the North Manchester General Hospital site.
The successful candidate will also provide senior leadership within the Manchester pharmacy team. They will clinically supervise and support more junior pharmacists including direct line management were necessary.
The Post Holder will hold a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or be keen to work towards this whilst in post.
Main duties of the job
To deliver, develop and evaluate specialist clinical pharmacy services to the inpatient wards at North View, North Manchester General Hospital and Early Intervention Services citywide.
To deputise for the North Manchester Lead Clinical Pharmacist, when required.
To provide expert pharmaceutical advice to consultants and medical staff within the Trust and other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
To attend MDT meetings on a regular basis.
To provide expert pharmaceutical advice to patients and carers.
To ensure that drug therapy is evidence based, safe, cost effective and appropriate to the individual patient.
To ensure that medicines management practices within MDT and services comply with legal, national and local guidelines. To develop local procedures and guidelines within designated teams and services.
To manage, supervise and train clinical pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and pharmacy undergraduates.
To supervise and train technical staff and other health care professionals.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Member of the GPhC
- • Masters Degree with demonstrable competency based training with final exams or equivalent
- • Post graduate diploma in clinical / psychiatric pharmacy
Desirable criteria
- • Registered non-medical prescriber
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Considerable hospital experience
- • Considerable mental health / training experience
- • Experience of managing and supervising staff
- • Experience of developing prescribing policies
- • Experience of designing and undertaking clinical audits
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of developing and delivering training
- • Experience of working in both primary and secondary care.
- • Experience in working MH inpatient services
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Have knowledge of clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management
