We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Charites Finance Officer to join our busy Charity Finance Team.
We’re excited to be recruiting for a passionate and driven  Senior Charites Finance Officer to be an integral part of a high-quality Financial Services Function. 
We are looking for an individual who is an experienced, highly organised and motivated individual, who likes to work on their own but can work well as part of a team with a ‘positive can-do attitude and a passion for giving back.  

You’ll be responsible for providing financial support to the Charity Finance Team, managing your own workload and providing complex charitable information as required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in producing the Statement of Financial Position and Activities and cash flow on a monthly basis.  Contribute to the production of the Finance Report for the Charitable Funds Committee and the Charity Accounts.

Identify and implement service development, delivering efficiencies in line with the Charity Strategy and ensuring service delivery and the completion of statutory returns.

Manage and complete Legacy Administration including, liaising with Executors of Wills, Legacy fundraisers.  Leading on the co-ordination and planning of Legacy Administration with the fundraising team.

Manage the administration of the Staff Lottery including the completion of the committee reports and appropriate returns.

Contribute to the development of the Annual Planning cycle, and complete budget monitoring and income trend analysis.

Be a point of contact offering advice and guidance which is set out by the Charity Trustee and Charity Commission policies.

Maintain and develop controls ensuring all expenditure charged to the Charity is appropriate.

Provide line management to the Charities Finance Assistant and Charities Senior Finance Officer and trainees, ensuring appropriate appraisal, supervision and objective setting.

Develop and maintain “working relationships” with the Trust’s external and internal auditors, and other external bodies as appropriate.

Produce and maintain appropriate procedure notes relating to areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • AAT, NVQ 4 or equivalent experience to degree level
  • Management qualification or exeperience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge of charity finance
  • Understanding of the NHS and the Trust Financial Regime
  • Knowledge of Financial Systems
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and other guidance and legislation
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding legacy law
  • Experience of working in an NHS Charity or other Charity Finance Team
  • Knowledge of the Charity SORP/FRS 102

Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level within a charity finance function
  • Demonstrable experience of working with a computerised accounting package
  • Commitment to own personal development and that of the Team
  • Knowledge and experience of all applications found in 'Microsoft Office'
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within an NHS finance department
  • Working knowledge of Integra ledger system
  • Staff management experience
