Trainee EPRR Officer

Band 5

Job overview

Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) is a core function of the NHS and is a statutory requirement of the Civil Contingencies Act (CCA) 2004. Responding to emergencies is a key requirement within the NHS Act (2006). The role of NHS England in EPRR relates to potentially disruptive threats outlined in the National Security Risk Assessment and leading the NHS response, as required, during emergency situations. These are wide ranging and may be anything from extreme weather conditions to infectious disease outbreaks, a major transport accident or a terrorist incident.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Trainee EPRR Officer in the EPRR Team. The post holder will form  a dynamic team and be key in delivering the work programme and ensuring the Organisation is prepared for and can respond to emergencies.

It is Trainee position starting at Band 5 and moving to Band 6 on successful completion of a qualification  in Resilience and Emergency professionals.

Main duties of the job

To provide support to the Trust in fulfilling the requirements of its statutory obligations under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (CCA). Under the act the Trust is to ensure it has robust plans for Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response, including business continuity, critical and major incidents. Additionally, the Trust must meet the core standards for EPRR as set out in the NHS England EPRR Framework.

The post holder will support the head of EPRR with the EPRR work programme, ensuring the trust complies with all relevant legislation and frameworks.
