Outpatient Receptionist

Job overview
Operating within clearly defined limits of the policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines of the department and with readily available supervision, as part of a team of Reception Team this post carries responsibility for the smooth running of the Outpatients areas reflecting high quality customer care in all daily activities.
Main duties of the job
Greet all staff, patients and visitors attending the reception area, ascertaining their requirements and respond accordingly.
Maintain designated reception area in an orderly manner at all times.
To support the telephone service within the Out Patient Department by receiving patient calls to arrange appointments.
Greet people attending the reception area, ascertaining their requirements and respond to those requirements accordingly.
Provide a telephone service answering and recording in the telephone logbook all incoming calls to the clinic area, relaying queries and messages as necessary and liaising with other departments where appropriate.
Checking in patients on arrival & booking a follow-up following completion of their Outpatient Appointment.
Arrange and respond to patient transport requests as directed.
Maintain the confidentiality, safety and security of the reception area reporting any adverse matters to senior staff and or the security office.
Responsible for ensuring the supply of necessary items by approving appropriate supplies requisitions for the effective clerical running of the outpatient’s environment e.g. stationery, stock and non-stock items.
