Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner

Job overview
We are seeking to expand our Paediatric Anaesthetic team and are recruiting a dynamic, innovative, highly motivated and enthusiastic registered senior practitioner that is looking to expand their existing skills and knowledge not only in paediatrics but also within a diverse and challenging range of specialties.
RMCH Theatres have 10 theatres and 1 recovery unit and cover a wide range of surgical specialties such as Burns and Plastics, Neurosurgery, Major Spinal Surgery and Trauma & Orthopedics. As a dedicated paediatric major trauma Centre and regional neonatal surgical centre we provide a 24/7 emergency service and staff are required to participate in this cover.
We work closely with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust to bring the UK's first high energy proton beam therapy service to Manchester, this is one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres and RMCH theatres provide the anaesthetic and recovery service, therefore staff will rotate to cover this service.
We work together with a range of professionals including nurses, ODPs and allied health professionals as well as anaesthetists and other medical staff to provide service users and their families / carers with timely procedures which are safe, achieve good clinical outcomes and provide a good patient experience.
Main duties of the job
To support the band 7 team leaders within children's theaters
To support junior members of the theatre anaesthetic team within their role and ensure their well being is supported.
Teach and mentor junior staff and ensure their learning needs are met
Act as a red star team leader within the theatre and ensure the lists run smoothly and safely.
Be proactive in finding cost saving ideas within the department and implementing positive change.
Be flexible and adaptable within your role
Be a positive role model for all colleagues- have a positive attitude and promote this within the department
Lead IQP ideas and audits within the department and communicate there ideas and changes within the team.
Promote staff wellbeing by completing annual appraisals and celebrating staff and departmental successes

- Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner,
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of secondary specialty within theatre (recovery)
- Anaesthetic/ recovery team leader experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of CPD or further studies to support the role/ department
- Appropriate teaching/mentorship qualification.
- Evidence of Leadership & Management.
- Current knowledge of relevant professional and NHS trust policy
Desirable criteria
- Be willing to undertake own further professional development.
Experience

- Significant experience of working in a paediatric theatre environment
