Band 6 Audiologist Manchester Royal Infirmary - Part-time (30hours), 12month fixed term maternity leave cover
We are looking for a dynamic audiologist/healthcare scientist to join our adult audiology team at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The Audiology department is unique in providing all hearing services for adults and children under one management structure and within one hospital Trust. The department provides a number of specialist regional and supra-regional services including bone conduction hearing devices and cochlear implants. The service attracts complex cases from throughout the region and through our close working with ENT and other medical professions within the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. We have UKAS accreditation for adult and paediatric services.
You will have an interest and experience working in vestibular assessment and rehab and complex adult audiology . Further training will be provided as needed.
Successful candidates should have a BSc / PTP or STP in Audiology or equivalent levels of training and have vestibular assessment and rehabilitation experience.

Main duties of the job
The role includes a mixture of vestibular assessment using vHIT, BPPV assessments, VNG, VEMPs, Calorics and non-routine tests such as rotatory chair testing. IT also includes routine vestibular rehabilitation for patients with migraine, PPPD, unilateral and/ or bilateral vestibular weaknesses. Furthermore the role will also include a mixture of non-routine adult hearing aid work and some work within the BAHA service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- PTP/BSc in Audiology or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC or RCCP
- Experienced independent clinician in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation either holding HTS certification or working towards this
Desirable criteria
- MSc /STP in Audiology or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Balance assessment and rehabilitation in adults and older children
- Management of complex hearing losses
Desirable criteria
- VEMPs
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of balance assessment using a range of clinical techniques
- Experience of balance rehabilitation counselling and monitoring outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of professional policies and procedures in balance
Desirable criteria
- Evoked potentials testing
- Significant experience of working in an NHS setting (or equivalent)
- Experience with training and developing junior staff
