Band 6 Audiologist Manchester Royal Infirmary - Part-time (30hours), 12 month fixed term maternity leave cover 

We are looking for a dynamic audiologist/healthcare scientist to join our adult and paediatric audiology team at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The Audiology department is unique in providing all hearing services for adults and children under one management structure and within one hospital Trust. The department provides a number of specialist regional and supra-regional services including bone conduction hearing devices and cochlear implants. The service attracts complex cases from throughout the region and through our close working with ENT and other medical professions within the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.  We have UKAS accreditation for adult and paediatric services.

Successful candidates should have a BSc / PTP or STP in Audiology or equivalent levels of training .

Main duties of the job

The role predominantly includes a mixture of clinics within the adult rehabilitation and paediatric teams with the potential for some work within the tinnitus and/or BAHA and/or balance service depending on previous training and experience.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • PTP/BSc in Audiology or equivalent
  • Registration with HCPC or RCCP
  • Experienced independent clinician
Desirable criteria
  • MSc /STP in Audiology or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Management of routine hearing losses
  • Management of complex hearing losses
  • Paediatric assessment knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Balance assessment and rehabilitation in adults and older children
  • Knowledge of tinnitus management
  • Knowledge of Bone Conduction hearing devices

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of routine and complex hearing assessment and rehabilitation
  • Experience of counselling and rehabilitation of tinnitus
  • Knowledge and understanding of professional policies and procedures
  • Paediatric assessment experience
Desirable criteria
  • Significant experience of working in an NHS setting (or equivalent)
  • Experience with training and developing junior staff
  • Experience in Balance Assessment
  • Experience in Bone Conduction Device assessment / fitting
