Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bone marrow Transplant Specialist Nursing Team. We are looking for a passionate, motivated Band 5 staff nurse with some oncology/haematology experience to join the team.
This is a highly rewarding post in which you will have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge within the specialty and deliver holistic care to our patients and their families undertaking this complex treatment.
Main duties of the job
Providing high quality, evidence based care throughout the the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient programs. To work under indirect supervision, administering medication, maintaining accurate records, supporting MDT, and supervising junior staff.
- Clinical Care: Delivering individualised, patient-focused care while adhering to Trust policies, guidelines, and NMC professional standards.
- Assessment & Planning: Assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs of care, ensuring safety and dignity are maintained.
- Medication Management: Safely administering medications, including intravenous drugs, in compliance with policies.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Monitoring patient conditions, reporting changes promptly, and initiating emergency interventions when necessary.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate, comprehensive electronic or paper patient records.
- Teamwork & Supervision: Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, mentoring students, and supervising healthcare assistants. Maintain their own professional development
- Communication: Communicating effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues to provide support and information.
- Safety & Infection Control: Maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Discharge Planning: Facilitating safe and timely patient discharge, including coordinating with community teams.

Knowledge

- 1 years’ experience in Oncology/Haematology
- Knowledge of current nursing issues
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- IT/ Word Processing
Desirable criteria
- Keen interest in Bone Marrow Transplant.
Experience

- Experience of working on own and as part of a team.
- Mentorship - ability to supervise and support junior staff
