Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery and Endocrine surgery (Locally Employed Doctor).  This post is based at the Nightingale Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The Breast Surgery Unit at MFT is the largest unit in the country and is looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow who wishes to develop skills in both level 3 oncoplastic breast surgery and in thyroid/parathyroid surgery with a view to a career in Breast & Endocrine Surgery.

Main duties of the job

This post will suit candidates who wish to develop skills in both complex oncoplastic breast surgery and thyroid/parathyroid surgery 

Candidates that are non-GMC registered at the point of application will be considered for this position, under the Trusts International Fellowship Scheme (please note, there is a £500 admin charge for this scheme). Person specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration Full Registration with GMC
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCS (for UK trainees)
  • Eligible for GMC sponsorship via MIFS
Desirable criteria
  • FRCS or equivalent
  • CCST completion
  • PGDip / MS in Oncoplastic breast surgery
  • European Surgical Board qualification (EBSQ) Within 6 months

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least two years training in breast surgery and one years training in thyroid/parathyroid surgery
  • Experience of clinical audit
Desirable criteria
  • Publications
  • Oral and poster presentations at conferences

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Proficient in English
  • Appropriate scores in the IELTS exam

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good working knowledge of benign and malignant breast conditions.
  • Good working knowledge of benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid conditions
  • To understand the principles and techniques involved in breast reconstruction
Desirable criteria
  • MD or PHD in breast related research

Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Capacity to work under pressure
  • Team player
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm and experience in undergraduate teaching
  • Basic understanding of NHS management
