An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Cardiology team at Manchester Royal Infirmary, part of Manchester Heart Institute (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust). This is a 6 month locum post to cover a consultant colleague.
As the leading provider of tertiary and specialist healthcare services in Manchester, the Trust treats more than a million patients every year. You will be part of a team of 50 Consultant Cardiologists at the Manchester Heart Institute. The Cardiology department is staffed with energetic, forward-looking cardiologists, and we’re looking for someone similar to join our team.
The role presents an excellent opportunity to showcase your comprehensive understanding of cardiac care, specifically in General Cardiology, Heart Failure and complex devices.
Informal visits are encouraged and we would welcome your interest.

- To deliver excellent heart failure/General Cardiology services, for the population of Greater Manchester and surrounding areas
- To contribute to the planning and development of Cardiology services
- To support service development
- To provide flexible support and develop in reach services across MFT sites
- To support teaching and research within the department
- To contribute to the complex device service

Qualifications

- MB ChB or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- On Speciality Register for Cardiology or CCT within 6 months of interview

- Additional higher degree (eg. MD or PhD) in a relevant subject
Experience

- Broad training in general cardiology and extensive training in HF
- Participation in clinical skills teaching programme

- Evidence of research, service development or experience in innovative technology
- Experience of organising teaching programmes
Ability

- Competent in management of acute and chronic heart failure
- Ability to integrate within a multidisciplinary team

- Competent in another complementary sub-specialty, for example cardiac device implantation and follow-up
Audit

- Experience in organisation and undertaking audit
