Are you an experienced Anaesthetic and Recovery practitioner with a passion for education?

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Anaesthetic and Recovery Clinical Educator to join our dynamic Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham (WTWA) Theatres Education Team.

In this pivotal role, you will help ensure our WTWA theatre workforce has the confidence, competence and support needed to deliver safe, high‑quality perioperative patient care.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the existing Anaesthetic and Recovery Clinical Educator to deliver cohesive and comprehensive education and support to our Anesthetic and Recovery colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will;

develop and deliver tailored teaching for all WTWA theatre colleagues, taking a particular focus on developing core skills for new starters, newly registered staff, and practitioners new to theatre.

promote evidence-based practice, support clinical standards, and act as a role model within clinical areas.

provide visible clinical support, contributing to high-quality care and excellent patient experience.

facilitate clinical skills development, competency assessment, and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

provide advice on role competencies and contribute to the development and review of relevant competencies to ensure they reflect best practice and remain aligned with local and national guidelines/ policies.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN/ ODP
  • Evidence of level 6 studies
  • Anaesthetic qualification (RGN or suitable experience if ODP)
  • Attended MFT SLiP course or similar
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership course
  • Teaching qualification
  • Recovery qualification (RGN or suitable experience if ODP)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical competence within area/ speciality
  • Knowledge of implementing change
  • Able to apply national and Trust policies/ guidelines to practice
  • Awareness of clinical governance process
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of national and local education and training strategies/ agendas.
  • Knowledge of how to support the underperforming learner

Expereince

Essential criteria
  • Significant anaesthetic and recovery experience
  • Evidence of active link practitioner role
  • Evidence of recent experience supporting learners
  • Evidence of professional leadership
Desirable criteria
  • ICU/ HDU experience
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Experience of research activities
  • Experience of implementing service development/ change
  • Experience of development and delivery of training/ education programmes and role specific competencies
