Job overview

The post holder will support the implementation and delivery of Apprenticeship education, Functional Skills, training, and development of the Business Administrator Standard / Team Leader Standard. 

The main role of the Skills Coach is to teach, coach and mentor a range of learners who are studying towards achieving their Apprenticeship and having a successful End Point Assessment. The post holder will also work with Employers and managers to ensure learners are being appropriately supported to successfully achieve their qualifications providing advice and guidance where required.

Main duties of the job

Act as specialist in the teaching and delivery of the relevant Apprenticeship framework / Standards & possesses the relevant knowledge, theory & understanding to support learners throughout the programme of study.

Provide regular support to learners and ensure reviews are accurately recorded and documented in the correct format that satisfies both Ofsted and ESFA requirements at the agreed intervals within programme.

Support initial skills assessment and support the induction of new starters onto programme.

Contribute to the successful and timely completions of learners, escalating any concerns or gaps in knowledge, skills and behaviours as appropriate.

Proactively manages learners that are non-compliant

 Contribute to the development of the Apprenticeship curriculum for the specific Standards.  

Deploy effective communication strategies to ensure that information and knowledge is imparted sensitively according to needs of learners. 

Monitor learners progress, including contributing to the assessment and verification, identifying and raising concerns with the relevant managers in order to ensure learners complete timely, with action plans where required. 

Effectively manage a caseload through keeping records and preparing reports for regular work-based learning meetings to review progress of apprentices. .

Design and deliver bespoke sessions to learners of varied needs as and when required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Teaching qualification at level 5 or above
  • Qualifications in Maths, English and ICT minimum Level 2 attainment
  • Level 5 qualification in Business / Leadership and Management or above
Desirable criteria
  • IAG Qualifications at Level 2 or above
  • Vocational Assessor (D32/33, CAVA or A1)
  • Vocational Verifier (D34, IQA or V1)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of delivering in subject area in education and / or apprenticeships
  • Use of e-portfolio systems e.g. OneFile, Bud, Smart Assessor
  • Using digital skills to deliver taught sessions and assessments
  • Awareness of DfE and Ofsted rules and regulations
Desirable criteria
  • Participation in OFSTED inspection or similar audits
  • Understanding of Gatsby Benchmark / matrix accreditation

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship qualifications
  • Ability to achieve targets within deadlines
  • Curriculum design that meet the needs of learners
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of subjects taught and developments in industry
  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulatory framework and quality and compliance measures
