Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for you to join our Emergency Gynaecology Unit team, St Mary's Hospital  MCS at Wythenshawe Hospital, within Manchester NHS Foundation Trust.   This is a permanent position at 37.5  hours per week

 EGU is a 24-hour 7 day service and this role includes days, twilights, nights and weekend work.

The Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EGU) provides a Specialist Nurse led emergency service to patients with gynaelogical problems or concerns in early pregnancy (up to 16 weeks gestation). We work alongside a Consultant lead for EGU & medical team to support the patients coming through our service. 

 

Main duties of the job

You will gain experience in an acute emergency gynaecology setting, this is a fast paced environment with a high foot fall through the unit. You will work within an experienced MDT team and will be supported with a supernumerary period. Completion of the Emergency Gynaecology Course is of benefit but not essential as the successful candidate will be enrolled on the Emergency Gynaecology Course providing you with the skills to see, treat and discharge all pregnancy related patients.
Please note that a significant part of the role as a Staff Nurse in EGU is to provide high quality, bereavement care for patients and their families who are going through early pregnancy loss. 

The successful candidate will play an essential role in assessing and triaging the patient and delivering timely care, ensuring clear communication with the MDT.
