Specialist Nurse

Band 7

Job overview

An exciting  opportunity has arisen for a gynaecology nurse interested in developing specialist knowledge and skills in Urogynaecology.

Urogynaecology is a highly specialised area caring for women with urinary incontinence and prolapse. The clinical nurse specialists are responsible for many of the investigations and treatments of these conditions and these are delivered in nurse led clinics.

The Warrell Unit is one of only 9 a specialist Mesh centres in the UK and we are also recognized as specialists in the care of patients with genitourinary fistulae.

Both in house and external training will be provided to ensure that the appropriate competencies and standards are achieved before practitioners work autonomously. The successful candidate will be supported in their training by the senior Clinical Nurse Specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills within a highly specialised field. These skills include Cystoscopy, injecting Botox into the bladder, Urodynamics, PTNS, management of vaginal pessaries, assessment and management of urinary incontinence and prolapse and patient education and support with their condition.

Once training is complete you will be expected to work independently providing nurse led care to Urogynaecology patients.

You will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic and to be able provide strong clinical leadership to the service. You will already have proven leadership experience and excellent communication skills.
