Job overview

We are delighted to be able to recruit to a band 6 Haematology charge nurse post on ward 44, with a focus on education within Manchester Royal Infirmary. 

The expected hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week, working 7.30-20:00,  Monday - Sunday, with some flexibility to work Monday-Friday 7.30-15:30 to cover annual leave or when needed. 

Applications are encouraged from registered nurses with experience in caring for patients in a Haematology setting. 

The successful candidate will be required to work clinically with a focus on education to upskill and maintain the skills and knowledge of new and current staff members. 

Main duties of the job

You will have a clear understanding of Haematology and service delivery.  Your role will involve working clinically within the Haematology department as a clinical band 6 with a focus on education.  Maintaining skills and updates of current staff and providing training for new upcoming treatments.   Your role will be an integral part of the Haematology department and you will be expected to contribute to educational sessions. You will also be expected to contribute towards accreditation and Jacie requirements.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant professional qualification
  • Educated to diploma level
  • Speciality qualification
  • Teaching qualification
  • Evidence of level 3 studies
Desirable criteria
  • Graduate or working towards first degree in health related subject

Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of band 5 practitioner level
  • Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/speciality
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development, both clinical and managerial.
  • Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups
  • Haematology/Oncology experience
Desirable criteria
  • 2 years experience
