Job overview

An Opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses to apply for a band 6 role within the field of Infection Prevention and Control and Tissue Viability. This is an exciting time to join an innovative and expanding team. Both specialties offer high profile agendas, and working corporately, will allow practitioners to develop skills across a wide range of clinical services. This post is based at Wythenshawe hospital which is part of the wider Infection Prevention Control and Tissue Viability Team working across the acute and community services within Manchester Foundation Trust.  The successful candidate will support the team to deliver a 7 day service which will include weekend working and cross site cover following a period of training.

The role will provide an opportunity for a motivated enthusiastic Registered Nurses with an interest in Infection Prevention and Control and Tissue Viability to join the acute team. This is a developmental role where you will gain valuable experience across a wide variety of disciplines in the two specialties.

The post-holders will be supported to develop their skills within the two specialties using a robust education and training program alongside the use of a competency framework. This will support the delivery of evidenced based practice to service users for Infection Prevention and Control and Tissue Viability.

 

Main duties of the job

As a professional role model you will provide direct and indirect clinical care, ensuring the needs of the patient are central to service delivery.

You will monitor and improve standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues.

Consequently the successful candidate will need the  ability to travel independently across hospital sites.  Please read the job description to understand the main duties of the role.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registrant
  • Education to Diploma or above
  • Relevant professional qualification
  • Specialty qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of 1st degree level studies / working towards first degree in health related subject.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 12 months experience at Band 5 practitioner level or above
  • Portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievements in practice/clinical speciality
  • Evidence of recent continuing personal and professional development, both clinical and managerial
  • Experience of delivering education and training to staff, patients, and carers.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience within the clinical speciality of Infection Prevention and Control / Tissue Viability.
  • Experience of clinical audit.
  • Research knowledge and experience.

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate complex information to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals both verbal and written
  • Demonstrate negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to make calm rational decisions in the face of adversity
  • Ability to demonstrate imaginative and effective use of resources
