Job overview

To provide a high quality MR service to all patients at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).
The MR Departments within MFT consist of 1 Siemens SOLA 1.5T MRI Scanner at Trafford Hospital, 1 Siemens SOLA 1.5T MRI Scanner at Withington Hospital,   a Siemens Viato 1.5T Mobile Unit and a wide bore Siemens Aera 1.5 T at Manchester Royal Infirmary, 2 newly installed Siemens SOLA 1.5T MRI Scanners at Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester Hospital have a GE 1.5T Signa MRI scanner.

MFT MRI departments sites perform a range of pediatric and adult MR examinations running busy services with both outpatient and in patients. We perform a wide range of examinations including MRI Breast imaging, Urology, GI, Neuro, Cardiac, MSK, Pediatric and oncology to name a few. You will be expected to work a 12hour shift across a 7-day working pattern.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registration

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • DCR(R) or BSc (Hons) in Radiography
  • Put the welfare of all patients at the fore front of everything we do
  • An understanding of up to date MR safety guidelines and Local Rules
  • Previous knowledge or use of PACS/ SECTRA
Desirable criteria
  • IV cannulation certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Experience in Cross-sectional imaging
  • Experience to use the Radiology Information System (RIS) to update patient information, attendance and reports
  • Ability to operate advanced software on specialised radiology equipment
  • Ability to use MS Office (Word/Excel/Power Point/email)
  • Ability to change/discuss requests from referrers within clinical and national guidelines
  • Experience of management of equipment faults and appropriate record keeping
  • Experience of incident reporting system
  • Ability to adapt techniques and protocols when required without clinical input
  • Be able to move patients from beds and chairs using manual handling skills and if necessary hoists to move a wider range of patient types
  • Be confident to move critically ill patients after appropriate training
