Sister/Charge nurse Respiratory/Ventilation

The North West Ventilation Unit provides ventilatory support (none-invasive & mechanical) to patients with neuromuscular, respiratory & neurological conditions.

We are a small 12 bedded unit with an amazing MDT within the unit and thus offer bespoke, high quality, specialist care to our patients. 

 

Main duties of the job

The NWVU is a 12-bedded Ventilation unit for patients requiring non-invasive ventilation for a variety of chronic respiratory, neurological and neuromuscular conditions.

The service is staffed with a full MDT including medical and nursing teams, specialist AHPs, respiratory physiologists, administrative and support teams. 

 In addition we have 2 beds with capacity for further expansion for patients weaning from invasive ventilation & those requiring long term tracheostomy ventilation.  

Suitable candidates will have ambitions to develop their clinical skills and management for patients requiring long term ventilatory support. We are seeking to appoint motivated, dynamic staff with an interest or background in respiratory/intensive care and/or general medicine. You must be able to demonstrate high quality compassionate care and be keen to develop professional skills such as taking blood gases, venepuncture and cannulation, tracheostomy management, to support patients who require non-invasive ventilation within level 1, level 2 and level 3 environments.

An informal visit is highly recommended.

You will also:

 Be dedicated and motivated in providing exceptional patient care

Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

Work well within a multi-disciplinary team and individually

Have interest/ experience in Respiratory Medicine and/or Non-Invasive & Invasive Ventilation (NIV)

 Have a desire to develop specialized clinical skills
