Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and committed staff nurses to join our dedicated nursing team in the Department of Radiology at Manchester Royal Infirmary site. This post holder will be working in ORC mainly and supporting  all three Interventional radiology sites of MFT  ( ORC, Wythenshawe and North Manchester) as necessary  to  support cross site staffing cover  for elective as well as out of hours IR service staffing requirements.

We show our care for our staff through excellent development and progression opportunities including gaining experience in the care of patients before during and after radiological interventions such as CT guided lung biopsy, vascular angiography, liver biopsy and biliary stenting. This starts with a comprehensive induction programme, but doesn’t end there.

Main duties of the job

Support with the responsibility of coordination and safe effective management of the interventional radiology patients across all areas of IR, CT & Ultra sound as delegated by the Ward Manager/Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

Be responsible for the delivery of clinical expertise in all aspects of nursing care of patients within radiology department

Be able to assist with interventional procedures as a scrub nurse, and also undertake role as monitoring nurse and recovery nurse .

Participate in the out of hours on call service once trained and competent

Carry out nurse led discharge for client group in accordance with the agreed discharge criteria.

Take lead and support with quality improvement projects in supporting IR services 

Ensure and contribute to clinical environment being conducive to supporting the education and learning of all staff and students

As a multi skilled practitioner after appropriate training work on a rotational basis within other areas of the department such as Interventional rooms, recovery area Ultrasound, CT, MR scan to support nursing care of patients as necessary.
