Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the leukaemia, BMT/CAR-T/Gene therapy teams within the department. 

Participation in other aspects of haematology, including laboratory and diagnostic haematology, BMT attending will depend on the background and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent MRCPCH or MRCP
  • FRCPath, or equivalent. Such will allow participation in the diagnostic laboratory service, and in non-malignant on call.
  • Completion of general professional training Medicine or Paediatrics
  • Eligible for specialist registration in Haematology or Paediatrics Oncology. Should be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT or equivalent at interview.
  • Relevant clinical experience in Clinical Paediatric Haematology, and Transplant and Cell Therapies
  • Good team-working skills
  • Relevant clinical experience in Clinical Paediatric Haematology and Transplant and Cell Therapies
Desirable criteria
  • MD, PhD, or other higher degree
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent

Teaching and Audit

Essential criteria
  • Teaching medical students
  • Teaching junior medical staff
  • Experience of Audit and service improvement

Academic Achievements and Research

Desirable criteria
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals or a demonstrable commitment to developing research within this field in the Trust

Other Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with the GMC
  • Registered on the GMC Specialist Register (or be within 6 months of CCT date from the date of interview) or equivalent
