Paediatric Audiologist

We are looking for a dynamic audiologist to join our paediatric team at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The Audiology department is unique in providing all hearing services for adults and children under one management structure and within one hospital Trust. The department provides specialist regional and supra-regional services including bone conduction hearing devices and cochlear implants. The service attracts complex cases from throughout the region and through close working with ENT and other medical professions within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. 

 The post holder will be the clinical lead for paediatric hearing aids and bone conduction devices within the service. Applicants should have a special interest in this area . You will coordinate day to day hearing aid services for children and introduce ideas and developments for the service. You will have experience in working independently in the areas of paediatric hearing assessment and hearing aids in routine and complex paediatric patient groups. Further support and training will be provided as needed. 

 Successful candidates should have at least a BSc or PTP in Audiology or equivalent levels of training and have paediatric audiology clinical experience. Higher level training in paediatric audiology such as MSc, STP, BAA Higher Training Scheme (HTS) or Certificate of Audiological Competence in paediatrics is desirable.

The post holder will have advanced specialist knowledge and experience in paediatric audiology with specific experience and interest in the area of paediatric hearing aids, bone conduction devices and the management of hearing loss in routine and complex paediatric patient groups. The post holder will have a high level of independent working within paediatric audiology. They will perform complex diagnostic tests of hearing, apply scientific knowledge in the evaluation of results and make specialist clinical decisions jointly with parents and other professionals.
