Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for a confident, compassionate and clinically credible Practitioner to join the team as  a Sister/Charge Nurse for Ward 83.

This is a 11 bedded unit that cares for children with a wide variety of medical issues, including long term ventilation and complex respiratory conditions. 

The successful applicant will be required to provide leadership to the team  with particular focus on patient safety, workforce management and quality improvement. You will work closely with the senior nursing and medical team to ensure delivery of these high standards of care.

You will have an RSCN/RN Child with a post-registration qualification and relevant experience in the specialty. You will be team-orientated and also able to work autonomously; you will have excellent leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to the advancement of practice in this field. 

Main duties of the job

As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for leading the ward through the improving quality agenda, responsible for patient safety and patient experience

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level registration - RN(Child)/RSCN
  • Post basic evidence of study
  • Evidence of Level 6 studies
  • Qualified to function as mentor for pre-registration students.
Desirable criteria
  • Further study in relevant specialty
  • Appropriate management or leadership courses.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial relevant post registration experience, 1 of which must be within relevant clinical setting.
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice.
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Experience of research activities
