Highly Specialist Pharmacist - Medicine

NHS AfC: Band 8a

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacist to join the Team at North Manchester General Hospital. You will deliver a high-quality, patient focused, clinical pharmacy service across the  Division of Medicine. The role also involves supporting delivery of falls and intermediate care community services delivered locally by NMGH Pharmacy staff.

We have a very welcoming and supportive department at NMGH, but also have the benefits of being part of the wider MFT Pharmacy family, so whether you want the familiarity of general hospital life or the opportunities of huge teaching Trust life we can give you the best of both worlds. As a member of our team you will be supported to continue your own development with a thriving education agenda across MFT and locally, active health and wellbeing and equality, diversity and inclusion programmes championed by Pharmacy staff, and the opportunity to network and build peer support across the wider Trust.

If you have a passion for delivering excellent patient care, great leadership and supporting development of your colleagues, this may be the perfect opportunity for you. We would love to hear from you. Previous band 8a experience is not essential, we are open to supporting and developing the right person - please have a chat with us if you are a current band 7 considering your next steps post-diploma.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a high quality patient focused clinical pharmacy service to our medical patients and to establish effective relationships with clinical staff and other stakeholders delivering inpatient and outpatient care to our service users.

To promote the responsible, safe , clinically-effective and cost-effective use of medicines within the  division.

To support education and development of medical, nursing and pharmacy staff in your role as Highly Specialist Pharmacist for Medicine.

You will  develop your leadership and management skills within Pharmacy, and as a senior member of the Medical Team will be expected to deputise for the 8b Lead Pharmacist when required.

In addition to having a passion for Medicine you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team whilst also managing your own workload. You must be able to manage and motivate others and have the ability to influence the multidisciplinary team and engage with key stakeholders.
