Specialist Pharmacist - Paediatric Haematology and Oncology

Band 8a

Job overview

The Women’s and Children’s Pharmacy Team at MFT  has a great opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and organised specialist pharmacist to join our Haematology-Oncology clinical pharmacy team providing frontline services in paediatric haematology, oncology, and Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplant.  This role will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will provide clinical pharmacy support to patients, families and staff.

We are seeking a pharmacist who is passionate, dedicated, and motivated to learn about this area. In this role you will supported by the lead haematology pharmacist, the wider haematology/oncology team and the pharmacy team as a whole.

Main duties of the job

Our hospital hosts one of the largest Primary Treatment Centres for children's cancer services in the UK. We deliver an expanding and innovative JACIE accredited BMT service, which includes CAR-T cellular therapy. We also work in partnership with the Christie Hospital to provide Proton Beam services to children from around the UK. With new therapies emerging for the management of haemoglobinopathies and haemophilia, we have an opportunity to develop the clinical pharmacy service to these patients and support gene therapy trials.

Working within the Women’s and Children’s pharmacy team can offer you support in developing your expertise and skills through formal training courses, mentoring and regular appraisals. We have a wealth of clinical knowledge in a wide range of clinical specialities, with a strong team of senior pharmacists. We have excellent links with local universities and CPPE, as well as a variety of clinical national networks.

As a senior member of our Women’s and Children’s pharmacy team you can use and develop your leadership skills and previous experience to line manage, mentor and train rotational pharmacists, technicians, and clinical colleagues.
