Job overview

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual, who is an excellent team player, flexible, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate professionalism, excellent organisational and communication skills. You must be able to work accurately, quickly and under pressure, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and be committed to deliver a high standard patient focused service.

This role will include 1 in 5 Saturdays (9-1:30pm) , working as part of a rota. Bank Holiday working as part of a rota and worked across site. Posts will be based at the Oxford Road Campus however may have to work across site as required.

Main duties of the job

You will have a professional outlook and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills to deliver an exceptionally high standard of Aseptic Service.

You will:

  • demonstrate professionalism
  • work using own initiative to meet deadlines and patient need
  • have the ability to work accurately and methodically in busy Aseptic Services Units
  • perform effectively under pressure and have an excellent eye for detail
  • be committed to deliver a high standard in patient focused service

You will prepare Neonatal, Paediatric & Adult PN, Adult & Paediatric Chemotherapy, CIVAS and Clinical Trials across MFT, working innovatively to provide services to the patients. There may be a requirement in the future to provide cover at any of the sites within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

All staff are supported to develop their potential through a structured personal development programme and to develop your aseptic skills and knowledge. To work towards completing a NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Manufacturing course for support staff.

Person specification

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Good Communication skills written and verbal
  • Customer care skills
  • Ability to communicate information to pharmacy staff, nursing staff, ward managers and patients and ability to adapt to communication difficulties

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 GCSE’s or equivalent grade C or above in Mathematics and English
  • Ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to participate in training programmes and successfully achieve the required training
  • Commitment to CPD, further education and career development
  • Evidence of working as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent nationally recognised qualification
  • GCSE’s or equivalent including Science
  • Hospital Pharmacy/ Aseptic experience

Analytical
