Job overview

Are you experienced in research set-up and delivery with a passion for education and development? Look no further as this is a great opportunity to   join a fantastic team in Research and Innovation across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. You will work closely with the Education and Training Team to support the education and development needs of the non-clinical research delivery staff. Working closely with senior staff  and colleagues within R&I you will  contribute and lead on the development of education packages for staff internally and externally to support their development.  You will  ensure the working instructions are in place for best practice across the non-clinical research delivery workforce. Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in partnership with the R&I senior management team and will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality practice education support and delivery across R&I to ensure that the professional development needs of non-clinical research delivery staff across R&I are met.

The post holder will support and take responsibility for aspects of R&I education strategies through the delivery of education and training programmes and will act as an exemplary role model for learners exhibiting the Trust values and behaviours.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A thorough understanding of the clinical trial process.
  • Graduate – health related studies
  • Appropriate teaching and education qualification or experience
  • Good clinical practice certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Masters (level 7) study

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of different methods/ styles for teaching and learning underpinned by theory
  • Understanding of curriculum development including the generation of learning outcomes
  • Current knowledge of professional regulatory body requirements and national policy
  • Involvement with quality improvement methodology and outcome measurement
  • Microsoft office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.

Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Clinical Trials Management, including set up, financial management, data collection, audit and project managemen
  • Experience of teaching and supervising
  • Experience of having worked across professional and organisational boundaries
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of research governance and related legislation and inspection requirements (e.g. MHRA, HTA
  • Experience of the governance and approval systems within the NHS/similar healthcare setting and UK CRN for clinical studies
Desirable criteria
  • Practical experience of facilitating change

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ability to teach and facilitate with different groups of staff and learners
  • Involvement in the planning, implementation and evaluation education programmes
  • Evidence of organisational and time management skills
  • Evidence of ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work without supervision and use own initiative
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage competing priorities
