Job overview
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual experienced in clinical trials administration to co-ordinate studies within the General Paediatric team. You will ensure that comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative processes are in place for setting up studies, organising necessary approvals (ethics, R&D, MHRA, research networks etc.), data management, ensuring full compliance with the regulatory framework; including financial management of study set-up costs and income recovery in conjunction with the R&I finance team.
This post requires excellent interpersonal, IT and organisational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as having the confidence to work independently when required. Strong administrative and IT skills are essential and a familiarity with medical terminology would be advantageous.
Applicants will have attained a degree in a science or health-related discipline, or a degree in another field with experience in clinical trials, or relevant experience.
The post holder will need to be able to work flexibly and independently, and also be willing to travel to other sites in the Trust as required.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator with effective organisation skills and be confident in managing a demanding and varied workload. Excellent IT skills and the ability to work with several projects simultaneously are essential.
The post holder will act as a main point of contact for the General Paediatric Team, working closely with the Trust Research Office, clinical colleagues, and service support departments within MFT along with external pharmaceutical companies. They will ensure that comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative processes are in place and followed for the set up and coordination of studies, ensuring full compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the regulatory framework in order to support the successful delivery of the research portfolio for this speciality.
They should be educated to degree level in a health-related discipline or have demonstrable experience in the conduct and management of research and clinical trials.
The post holder will need to work cross site across our research campuses if required.

Education
Essential criteria
- Degree in a science or health-related discipline or a degree in another field with experience in clinical trials, or relevant experience.
- An understanding of the clinical trial process.
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate certificate in clinical research, or other post graduate qualification/experience.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in Clinical Trials administration, including set up, data collection, audit and project co-ordination.
- Sound knowledge of all aspects of research governance and related legislation and inspection requirements (e.g. MHRA, HTA).
- Experience of the governance and approval systems within the NHS and UK CRN for clinical studies.
- Data quality management
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience.
- Evidence of writing policies and procedures and evaluating their application in practice.
- Research project monitoring.

- Excellent organisational skills, with a methodical approach and the ability to pay attention to detail.
