Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 role within the Paediatric Resuscitation and Simulation Department. This is a cross site post,
working across multiple acute hospital sites and satellite units as part of the wider team working across Manchester University NHS Foundation
Trust. This is a full-time post.
The role will provide an opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic healthcare professionals with an interest in resuscitation to gain valuable
experience working across a wide variety of services and alongside staff from all disciplines.
You will be working alongside both Adult and Paediatric Resuscitation Practitioners, supporting the Resuscitation Service Leads to provide a
comprehensive and cohesive resuscitation service for the Trust.
As a professional role model you will provide direct and indirect clinical care, ensuring the needs of the patient are central to service delivery. You
will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based practice, teaching and supporting
professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. You will actively contribute to the clinical effectiveness processes within the service
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Band 6 Paediatric Resuscitation Practitioner to become part of our team. You must be enthusiastic, highly motivated,
confident, flexible and demonstrate excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will work with other members of the Resuscitation Department to support the wider resuscitation team and the range of services it provides across multiple sites.
You will mainly be responsible for delivering national & mandatory training to MFT staff and external candidates. You will also participate in the collection & collation of data for national & local audits, presenting this information as required at the appropriate forums. In addition, you will be required to support the cardiac arrest/emergency teams, providing support & acting as an expert resource to them. As well as the opportunity to develop personally and professionally within the team you’ll be supported to develop as an instructor with a variety of learning opportunities in resuscitation practice & education.
As a Resuscitation Practitioner you will need to develop competence to support all our patients and we will help to support individuals achieve this through continuous professional development (CPD).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Registered Health Care Professional (NMC/HCPC)
- • Significant experience in an acute care setting (eg ED, CCU, ITU, Theatres)
- • Teaching qualification or relevant experience
- • Advanced Life Support (APLS / EPALS) Provider
- • Evidence of post-basic study
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of care of other patient age-groups, eg adults or newborns
- • Demonstrable interest or involvement in resuscitation related issues
- • APLS / EPALS Instructor or nomination of instructor potential from provider course
- • GIC-certified Instructor in any accredited resuscitation course
- • Degree level studies
- • Qualified Mentor
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Knowledge of RCUK guidelines and quality standards
- • Local and National issues affecting resuscitation and health care
- • NMC/HCPC standards and requirements
Desirable criteria
- • Interest/experience or specialist knowledge in key subject areas of resuscitation ( eg prehospital care, critical care, anaesthesia, emergency care)
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Extensive post qualification experience in an acute care setting
- • Evidence of Clinical leadership skills
- • Experience of supporting learners
- • Portfolio of evidence demonstrating clinical / educational achievements
- • Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
- • Undertaken a leadership programme
- • Implementation of change or service development
- • Experience of clinical audit or research
- • Previous experience working in a Resuscitation Service
- • Involvement in simulation practice
- • Report writing
