To work as a part of the operational MFT Telecoms Team.  Deputy Telecoms Infrastructure Manager will be required to exercise initiative and judgement to ensure the provision of an efficient, telecoms service that is supportive to the Department and satellite locations. 

You need to be self-motivated and able to work closely with Contractors and Telecom colleagues;

You will have good organisational skills, be able to work under pressure and must be confident in communicating to a broad range of individuals

Candidates must be reliable, flexible and have the ability to work alone as well as part of a team.

 

Main duties of the job

  Be able to cover a full range of Telecoms Infrastructure duties and requirements to ensure an appropriate, effective and efficient service is provided across MFT

 Project Manager small installation / amendment projects relating to Telecoms Infrastructure.

 Directly manage contractors when on site who will be working on Telecoms Infrastructure within the Trust, and report to the Telecoms Infrastructure Manager any issues / problems that may arise in this process.

Act as first point of call for issues relating to Telecoms Infrastructure within Community Health Centers and Clinics, liaising where necessary with building owners / managers in order to provide the required Telecoms services at these properties. 

Provide advice and guidance to the Head of Telecommunications, Telecoms Infrastructure Manager, Switchboard Manager and Deputy Switchboard Manager in terms of policy development and equipment deployment relating to the department.

 Implement and manage a system of regular departmental audits to ensure the correct policies, procedures, training programmes, etc. are in place and are being implemented effectively across the Telecoms Department.

To deputise for the Telecoms Infrastructure Manger when necessary.

 Deal with any request or complaints that are referred directly from the Telecoms Infrastructure Manager / Switchboard Manager ensuring these are investigated and reported on fully.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Level 4/5 NVQ , or HND (Higher National Diploma) Or alternatively In depth specialist knowledge of current and new emerging telecom technologies with extensive knowledge of dial plan management and call traffic management systems.
  • Specialist knowledge in all aspects of proprietary switch networking services, PBX’s and key systems along with planning and implementation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sufficient NHS experience in a similar post / role
  • Extensive experience of management of contractors.
  • Significant supervisory/management experience in a telecom or Data department
  • Staff recruitment, management & appraisal
  • Managing staff and team leadership
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of managing a medium to large deployment of telephony
  • Experience of dealing with staff over Human Resources matters
