Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic highly motivated applicants who are able to provide evidence they have the necessary qualities of being caring, compassionate and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work within a team.

Main duties of the job

As an integral part of the team, you will assist the senior schedulers with the smooth running of the service and contribute to a high standard of patient care by delivering a range of essential administrative duties. This is a challenging and interesting role in which you will have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skills in the field of scheduling patients for elective surgical procedures. We will give you our full support, including training, regular appraisals, and you will benefit from working with an innovative, friendly team.

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member, the team priorities
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, as agreed with line manager
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate calmly and respectfully under pressure
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail
  • Able to listen and follow instructions, asking for clarification if necessary
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and work efficiently

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English at 4 or above or equivalent
  • Previous experience in using customer data storage / processing computer software
  • Experience of IT systems, for example Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Experience of dealing with customer queries by telephone
  • Experience in a customer or patient facing role
Desirable criteria
  • ICT / IT Qualification
  • Working knowledge of databases and spread sheets
  • An understanding of PAS, Medisec, Ormis,etc
  • Experience of using Hive
  • An understanding and/or experience of working to National and Trust targets, including waiting lists and RTT
  • NHS Experience
