Job overview

We are now seeking a motivated and committed Housekeeper with excellent time management skills to join our team in Trafford theatres to coordinate all support services within the theatre department as part of the theatre team to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable department.

Ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to and that the department conforms to Health and Safety standards using policy and risk assessment.

 

Main duties of the job

You will be working in collaboration with other theatre practitioners and domestic staff to ensure a safe, clean, and organised clinical environment and you will also supervise the domestic staff ensuring that they are cleaning to a high standard.

Other responsibilities:

Ordering of stores and equipment, and coordination of stock levels

Responsible for assisting with the patient experience tracker and continuous quality improvement work.

You will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills as well as commitment to working within a team to develop and improve our services.

Spot cleaning and ensuring spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

Ensure equipment is in a clean, serviced, and available for immediate use.

Upkeep of theatre appearance e.g. remove clutter, remove dirty cups, tidy notice boards and leaflet rack, signage, moving of light furniture.

Liaise with other departments as appropriate.

Establish and maintain cleaning schedules for non-clinical items e.g. drip stands.

Checks for the changing rooms are completed daily.

Daily checks of the staff coffee room to ensure daily cleaning is in place and refrigerator and area is kept clean and tidy.

Attend service meeting on behalf of the Theatre department and cascade information to the theatre leads when necessary.

Be the safety champion for the department and ensure correct checked are completed.

Person specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • General education completed.
  • Holds the NVQ 3 or Apprenticeship Level 2 in Care/ Care Certificate qualification or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • GCSE’s or level 2 key skills particularly in English and Maths

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an acute “care” environment, undertaking a full range of clinical commitments
  • Able to demonstrate that they work well within a team.
  • Basic IT skills
  • Able to understand the need for change in a clinical setting due to strive for quality
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and the National Health Service
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in more than one speciality within a health care environment.
