Surgical First Assistant

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Scrub Practitioners to join the SMH Gynaecology Robotic Programme which is planned to start in April 2025. We are looking to recruit 3x Surgical First Assistants who will work alongside Consultant Gynaecologists across the Gynae sub-specialties to provide assistance during clinical procedures. Successful applicants who do not hold the Surgical First Assistant in operative procedures HEA 3055 certificate, will be enrolled on the next available course through Edge Hill university. This is a 6 month course and will be Fully funded and the relevant clinical support provided. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate and assist  Primarily in Robotic Surgical procedures, some flexibility will be required dependant on workload across Gynaecology. providing skilled assistance under the direct supervision of the surgeon. The post holder will work as part of the surgical speciality theatre team, working in conjunction with the speciality surgeon and the team leaders.  S/he will assist and collaborate with the theatre team when not in the role of the surgical first assistant.  S/he will provide direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist are
