Staff Nurse - Orthopaedics

Band 5

Job overview

Join Our Orthopaedic & Trauma Team at The Royal Oldham Hospital

We’re excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for Qualified Staff Nurses to join our dynamic and forward‑thinking Orthopaedic and Trauma Department at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

If you have post‑registration experience in orthopaedics or trauma — and a passion for delivering excellent, compassionate care — we’d love to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

Our vision is simple: to deliver the highest standard of care while supporting and developing a motivated, confident, and empowered nursing workforce. You’ll be part of a team that embraces innovation, values collaboration, and is committed to helping every member thrive.

About You

We’re looking for a highly motivated nurse who shares our values and enthusiasm for outstanding patient care. If you’re ready to join a team with vision, drive and ambition, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to make a real difference every day.

Proven post registration experience is required for this role.

Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care. You will be responsible for assessing individual care needs and leading on the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans for your own group of patients, while also contributing to the wider care of all patients within the ward or unit.

You will help support the day‑to‑day management and organisation of the ward, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times. Your leadership will be essential in guiding and supporting junior colleagues, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.

A vital part of your role will involve supervising and assessing learners and unregistered staff. You will act as a named supervisor, taking an active role in teaching, supporting development, and helping to shape the next generation of nursing professionals.

Drawing on your proven clinical skills and experience, you will contribute to delivering evidence‑based, compassionate care and will be encouraged to use your initiative to ensure excellent standards are consistently achieved.
