We’re looking for compassionate and caring Nursing Assistants with a passion to be a key part of the patient care journey here at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).  Our Nursing Assistants take great pride in the essential work we do. You’ll communicate in a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients, relatives, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The service runs 7 days a week, varying shift patterns are available and operates between 8:00 am and 22:00pm and includes Bank Holidays, Christmas and New Year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for B3 Senior Nursing Assistant with NVQ Level 3 qualification  to join our  integrated Community  Nursing Team in Trafford

We have 1  part time position 22.5 hours over 3 days to include weekends and late shifts .Set days could be accommodated as part of Flexible working .

The role will involve travelling to patients homes from various locations across South Manchester and you will need to demonstrate at interview how you will achieve this.

Car owner/ user essential.

Main duties of the job

Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses and within Trust guidelines & protocols, you’ll assist in delivering the excellent patient care you would expect for yourself and your loved ones.

Your duties will involve supporting patients with personal care needs, and will involve traveling to patients’ homes from various locations

Following on the job training & assessment, you’ll learn how to undertake a range of delegated, duties that include recording patient observations & changes to clinical conditions.

Car owner/ user essential.

Previous community experience is preferred; however, training will be available.

If you are new to working in healthcare, you’ll be supported to develop yourself through our Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants. The great news is, the completion of this Programme will give you the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.

If you’re an experienced Nursing Assistant seeking a new opportunity, you’ll undertake a skills analysis when you start to ensure that you meet the skills required for your role. If there are any gaps identified in your clinical skills knowledge, you’ll be supported to access relevant modules to support your progression to a Band 3 post on completion.

Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed and considered.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Completed the National Care Certificate if relevant
  • Holds a level 3 Vocational Qualification (e.g. NVQ or Apprenticeship) in clinical health care OR Able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skill and competency to undertake band 3 clinical skills (described in JD)
  • Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or education equivalent
  • Worked at a band 2 Nursing Assistant or equivalent
  • Workers who are unable to provide evidence of knowledge or unable to demonstrate competency in band 3 clinical skills will be required to undertake the Trust Clinical Support Worker Development Programme as a Band 2 Clinical Support Worker and transition to Band 3 on completion
Desirable criteria
  • Speciality specific training and evidence of competencies being achieved and continued development

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in a healthcare organisation/setting, undertaking a wide range of clinical commitments
  • Knowledge of Infection Control & Safeguarding processes
  • Experience of working with the multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of caring for a group of patients
  • Experience of dealing with informal complaints as appropriate
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in supporting Quality Improvement audits and research and development activities
  • Experience of working in more than one speciality within a health care environment
