Join Our Dynamic Colorectal Nursing Team as a Triage Nurse

Are you a passionate and motivated nurse looking to elevate your career? We are excited to invite you to apply for the position of Colorectal Triage Nurse! In this pivotal role, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring prompt diagnoses for patients on a critical 28-day pathway, offering compassionate care and unwavering support to those on suspected cancer journeys.

This is a perfect opportunity for individuals with colorectal or general surgical experience who aspire to specialise further and enhance their expertise in a rewarding field. Collaborating closely with a dedicated team of nursing and medical professionals across both the surgical department and cancer services, you will be instrumental in improving patient outcomes.

We seek a unique individual who not only understands surgical nursing and cancer pathways but is also deeply committed to enhancing patient experiences. You will receive comprehensive training and support as you develop into a specialist nursing role.

If you are eager to contribute to the development of our nursing practice and showcase your commitment to ongoing professional and academic growth, we want to hear from you! Join us in making a real difference in the lives of our patients – your journey begins here.

Main duties of the job

As a crucial member of our colorectal nursing team, you will play a vital role in triaging patients on the suspected colorectal cancer pathway (TWR/28-day pathway). Guided by senior colleagues and established protocols, you will ensure timely and efficient care for every patient.

Your mission will be to champion faster diagnoses and enhance outcomes for those with suspected colorectal cancer by coordinating essential investigations. You'll foster collaboration with our directorate management and cancer services department, guaranteeing that patients experience a smooth and timely diagnostic journey.

In this integral role, you will review and act on investigation results within your scope of practice, while also serving as a crucial point of contact for patients navigating the suspected colorectal cancer pathway. Your effective communication skills will significantly improve patient experience, providing reassurance and support during their treatment journey.

Additionally, you will escalate any concerns or results that fall outside your current scope of practice, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.

Join us in this impactful role, where your contributions will not only advance your career but also make a real difference in the lives of patients fighting colorectal cancer. Your journey to shaping the future of patient care starts here.
