Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our intermediate care team. 

This will provide you with excellent opportunities to develop a wide range of clinical and professional skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

You will carry out holistic Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions, considering the persons physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs.  You will work on the intermediate care ward   You will work with the MDT to achieve patients rehabilitation goals, facilitating discharge home or to appropriate settings.

You will be supervised and supported by highly skilled and experienced Band 6  Occupational Therapists and work collaboratively with the MDT.  The Therapy Department strives for continuous service improvement and professional development is supported.  We have a comprehensive preceptorship programme and place great importance upon training and supporting all members of our team.

  • Degree / Diploma or Masters in Occupational Therapy

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of experience at undergraduate level including managing medical, surgical, neurological and mental health conditions.
  • Good written communication skills
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of CPD
  • An understanding of CPD
  • Evidence of clinical reasoning skills demonstrating knowledge of medical, surgical, neurological and mental health conditions
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within the role
Desirable criteria
  • Undergraduate experience gained in both a hospital and a community NHS setting
