Senior Clinical Fellow

An opportunity has arisen for the appointment for a  Senior Clinical Fellow within Trauma, Orthopedic at Royal Oldham Hospital. 

This is a 6 month post with view to extend for 12 months which will provide an opportunity for the appointee to learn and develop subspecialty-level skill in the management of Orthopedics. 

The appointee will be expected to participate fully in the provision of District General  Hospital services to the residents of Oldham. It is proposed that the appointee will provide 10 PA’s per week (9 PA’s DCC and 1 SPA) which will include outpatient clinics, operating theatre lists and administration.

The post holder will be based at Royal Oldham Hospital with elective lists predominantly at Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary

You will be part of a dynamic team providing high quality care to surgical

patients.

 

You will be responsible, under the supervision of the consultant, for the day to day care of elective and emergency patients.

You will be expected to participate at level one on call rota and cover for authorised absence of colleagues.

 

The successful candidate must have  full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practice.

You will be given active support with basic science and clinical research / audit and will be expected to present and publish this work as appropriate.

Qualifications & Registration

  • Full GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise
  • M.B.Ch.B or Equivalent
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • An appropriate higher qualification in Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • ATLS

  • Higher degree such as : FRCS T&O PG Master PG Diploma
  • 4 or more years Orthopaedics experience
  • Evidence of research and Audit

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience following post-graduate medical qualification
  • Interest and knowledge of audit
  • Evidence of completion of audits
  • Published research or audits or case reports in peer reviewed journals
  • Experience & competence within general trauma and orthopaedic surgery

  • Higher degree in research Reviewer for medical journals
  • Previous experience of working within the NHS
